Ru is a musician born in Portugal who began singing as soon as she arrived into this world and playing piano since the early age of three. She studied at a British school all her life, which explains her fluidity in the english language. Ru is Portuguese, but comes from a multi-cultural family background which includes heavy English and Spanish influences. With a family history of pianists and musicians, Ru inherited a natural ear and an unstoppable passion for music.

By the age of six Ru was already playing Bach pieces on the piano for small crowds and composing her own music.
During the transition into her teenage years, Ru carried on expressing her enthusiasm for music by writing and recording multi-instrumental pieces inspired by different cultures and musical genres.
Two of these pieces, (which include a minimalistic piano piece with violins, and a "tango" piano piece with a cello and violins), along with a duet cover of the song "Come what may" from the movie "Moulin Rouge", were sent to England for Ru's GCSE exam, which she passed with top grades. By the age of 14 Ru expanded her musical horizon by self-learning how to play the guitar, which then led her to write her own songs on the guitar as well as the piano. Prior to the guitar, Ru had also taken up the recorder and the flute for various years and passed yearly Trinity College exams. She also performed in various inter-schools concerts either by singing, playing guitar, playing piano, or both. These performances included a punk rock show where she sang and played guitar with a supporting band, various duets, acoustic sessions (again both singing and playing the guitar or the piano), and so on. As well as composing and writing her own music, Ru spends most of her time focusing on her demanding university course, where she studies to become a successfull designer, in case her musical career fails to kick off.
In her spare time she strives to improve her musical skills and is having vocal lessons with a prestigious teacher much known for her work with professional artists in Portugal. Very shortly she will also attend auditions for a jazz school where she will continue her piano and musical studies.

Ru is currently working on her latest songs which merge classical, rock, metal and jazz influences and will post them on her myspace and youtube websites as soon as they are recorded.
